In 1971, a young, ambitious entrepreneur named Spencer Kurihara, Sr. endeavored to earn a living to support his family by walking door-to-door, offering to paint the garage doors of Hawaii's local families’ homes.

This visionary has shared with us how he chose the original name of the company SOCIETY PAINTERS. He was looking for a strong name that encompassed a word that was representative of "People". About that time he went to see a famous local performing group of seven talented men down in Waikiki and thought... PERFECT!

That once solo act has grown not only in its stature, experience, and team size, it has additionally claimed its solid place in the community fiber of our islands. Now having a strong history on every island, Society Contracting, LLC has stood the test of time when many painting and contracting businesses have come and gone and is well known today for its ability to get the job done, big or small.

Today, Spencer Sr.'s son Shawn, has taken over the "reins" as the President and brings a fresh outlook of new business while maintaining the solid practices that built this strong company. As an ever-changing business, we have grown into a company that focuses on General Contracting, Flooring, and Roofing, along with our strong Painting history. With this "Can Do" attitude along with our commitment to stick around, regardless of the economical conditions, the display of our strong commitment to our Customers, our Community, and our Islands are evidently shown through.
